Climate Change May Expand Ibisbill Habitat Range in Himalayas
Mongabay India · environment
A new study indicates that rising temperatures could expand the habitat range for the elusive ibisbill bird in the Kashmir and Ladakh Himalayas. Mean annual temperature is identified as the primary climatic factor influencing the species' distribution. Future projections suggest potential habitat expansion along mid-elevation river corridors. However, the study also highlights significant threats from human activities, including boulder mining and pollution from plastic waste, which continue to pressure the ibisbill's environment.
