Scientists have confirmed the presence of an atmosphere on exoplanet K2-18 b, located 49 light-years away. This super-Earth, orbiting within its star's habitable zone, is a prime candidate for finding extraterrestrial life. The James Webb Space Telescope detected carbon-bearing molecules, including methane and carbon dioxide, and a possible detection of dimethyl sulfide (DMS).
