Odisha Vigilance Arrests Senior Clerk for Embezzling Over Rs 8.6 Lakh Red Cross Funds

The state vigilance department in Odisha has arrested a senior clerk, Sadasiba Pradhan, for allegedly embezzling over Rs 8.63 lakh from the district Red Cross fund. Pradhan, who worked in the Chhatrapur sub-collector's office, reportedly collected the funds between December 2023 and August 2025. Instead of depositing the money into the designated bank account, he is accused of pocketing the amount. The anti-corruption agency has registered a case against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation into the financial irregularities is ongoing.
