Indore's Clean Image Tarnished by Sanitation Workers' Strike
Times of India · india
Indore's long-held reputation for cleanliness is under threat due to a strike by 8,500 sanitation workers demanding job regularisation. The industrial action, which began on Monday, has led to uncollected waste piling up on streets across the city. Daily waste collection has reportedly dropped by 50%, with garbage spilling onto roads and causing a significant stink. While the Indore Municipal Corporation is deploying sweeping machines and exploring alternative arrangements with NGOs, manual sweeping in colonies has ceased, impacting residents.
