A scientific study following the MSC ELSA-3 shipwreck off Keralam's coast has revealed persistent nurdle pollution and evolving ecological impacts along the Kerala and Tamil Nadu coastlines. The incident in May 2025 involved the spill of plastic resin pellets, industrial materials, and hazardous cargo. Researchers monitored contamination across 93 coastal sites for one year, assessing weathering, contaminant accumulation, and biological interactions.

केरल के तट पर MSC ELSA-3 जहाज के डूबने के बाद हुई वैज्ञानिक जांच में पता चला है कि केरल और तमिलनाडु के तटीय इलाकों में प्लास्टिक के छोटे दाने (नर्डल) का प्रदूषण लगातार बना हुआ है और इसके पारिस्थितिक प्रभाव भी बदल रहे हैं। मई 2025 में हुए इस हादसे में प्लास्टिक रेज़िन पेलेट्स, औद्योगिक सामान और खतरनाक माल बह गया था।
