Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla stated that any notice seeking the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) will be decided strictly according to established rules and procedures. He noted that the process for removing a CEC is identical to that for removing a Supreme Court judge. Previously, both the Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman had rejected opposition notices, deeming the allegations insufficient to meet the constitutional threshold for removal proceedings.

लोकसभा अध्यक्ष ओम बिरला ने कहा कि मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त (CEC) को हटाने के किसी भी नोटिस पर तय नियमों और प्रक्रियाओं के अनुसार ही फैसला लिया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि CEC को हटाने की प्रक्रिया सुप्रीम कोर्ट के जज को हटाने जैसी ही है। इससे पहले, लोकसभा अध्यक्ष और राज्यसभा के सभापति दोनों ने विपक्ष के नोटिसों को खारिज कर दिया था, क्योंकि आरोप हटाने की कार्यवाही के लिए संवैधानिक सीमा को पूरा करने के लिए अपर्याप्त थे।
