Mizoram has revealed two new frog species, with one discovered on a university campus after over two decades. Named Duttaphrynus phawngpui and Ingerana aizawl, these species are named after Mizoram's highest peak and its capital, respectively. Researchers confirmed Duttaphrynus phawngpui as a distinct species through DNA analysis, body measurements, and visual comparisons. This discovery reinforces the theory of isolated mountain peaks acting as 'sky islands' for independent evolution.

मिजोरम में मेंढकों की दो नई प्रजातियाँ मिली हैं। एक तो यूनिवर्सिटी कैंपस में 20 साल बाद मिली है। इनका नाम मिजोरम की सबसे ऊंची चोटी और राजधानी के नाम पर रखा गया है। DNA और शरीर के नाप-जोख से पता चला है कि ये वाकई अलग प्रजातियाँ हैं। इससे यह बात और पक्की होती है कि अलग-अलग पहाड़ी चोटियाँ स्वतंत्र विकास के लिए 'स्काई आइलैंड' का काम करती हैं।
