Zee Accuses Reliance-Disney JV Of Copyright Breach

Zee Entertainment has asked the Delhi High Court to start contempt proceedings against Reliance-Disney's JioStar. Zee alleges JioStar wilfully disobeyed a court order by continuing to use its copyrighted music and songs. The dispute escalated after Zee filed a lawsuit in April seeking $3 million for alleged copyright violations. JioStar, formed from an $8.5 billion merger, claims infringements were unintentional. The court has asked JioStar for a response, with the next hearing in December.

ज़ी एंटरटेनमेंट ने दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट से रिलायंस-डिज़्नी की जियोस्टार के खिलाफ अवमानना की कार्यवाही शुरू करने की मांग की है। ज़ी का आरोप है कि जियोस्टार ने कोर्ट के आदेश का जानबूझकर उल्लंघन किया और उनके कॉपीराइट वाले गाने इस्तेमाल करना जारी रखा। यह मामला अप्रैल में ज़ी द्वारा कॉपीराइट उल्लंघन के आरोप में 3 मिलियन डॉलर के मुकदमे के बाद बढ़ा। 8.5 बिलियन डॉलर के विलय से बनी जियोस्टार का कहना है कि यह अनजाने में हुआ। कोर्ट ने जियोस्टार से जवाब मांगा है, अगली सुनवाई दिसंबर में होगी।
