Friends Pay Artists Rs 15,000 Monthly To Learn Theatre

A new fellowship called Bargad is offering aspiring theatre artists a monthly stipend of Rs 15,000 to learn the craft. Co-founders Amba and Anirudh established the program to address gatekeeping in the performing arts, which they believe is heavily influenced by caste and privilege. The fellowship aims to provide access to training and professional opportunities for those who might otherwise be excluded due to financial or social barriers. The first cohort of 14 fellows began in January 2025, with participants encouraged to reflect on their growth and goals.
