Times of India · automobile

The Indian government is planning significant changes to driving licences, including introducing colour-coded cards to distinguish between Indian and foreign nationals. Affidavits sworn before magistrates or notaries will no longer be accepted as proof of age and address, aiming to prevent misuse. The proposal also mandates including blood group, mobile number, and emergency contact details on licences. Furthermore, the pass mark for the safe-driving tutorial assessment will be raised from 60% to 75%. These changes aim to curb false document submissions and streamline licence services.
