Kerala to Cancel Officials' Power To Grant Bar Licences

Kerala's Excise Minister M Liju announced that the government will revoke the authority of excise deputy commissioners to issue bar licenses. No new licenses will be granted until the current UDF government finalizes its new liquor policy. The minister stated that the previous LDF government had granted this power to deputy commissioners, leading to over 500 bar licenses being issued during their tenure.

केरल के आबकारी मंत्री एम. लिजू ने घोषणा की है कि सरकार बार लाइसेंस जारी करने का अधिकार आबकारी उप-आयुक्तों से वापस ले लेगी। जब तक मौजूदा यूडीएफ सरकार अपनी नई शराब नीति को अंतिम रूप नहीं दे देती, तब तक कोई नया लाइसेंस जारी नहीं किया जाएगा। मंत्री ने कहा कि पिछली एलडीएफ सरकार ने यह अधिकार उप-आयुक्तों को दिया था, जिसके चलते उनके कार्यकाल में 500 से अधिक बार लाइसेंस जारी किए गए थे।
