In a unique gesture before the first T20 International against West Indies in Lucknow, the Indian cricket team sang 'Vande Mataram' before the national anthem. This tradition was also observed during the T20 series against Afghanistan. While many fans appreciated the move, some questioned the players' ability to lip-sync the song. It appears the BCCI might adopt this practice for the first match of every home series, with 'Vande Mataram' preceding the national anthem. India won the toss and chose to bowl first.
