Indian Rupee Weakens to 95.22 Amid US Fed Decision Wait and Rising Oil Prices
Economic Times Markets · stocks
The Indian rupee closed slightly weaker at 95.22 against the US dollar on Wednesday. Traders adopted a cautious stance, awaiting the US Federal Reserve's decision, while demand for dollars and escalating oil prices exerted downward pressure. The rupee had previously closed at 95.11 and traded within a narrow range between 95.25 and 95.00. The Reserve Bank of India is believed to have intervened to prevent depreciation beyond the 95.25 mark, also showing presence in the non-deliverable forwards market.
