The Allahabad High Court has strongly criticised the Uttar Pradesh government's alleged misuse of the Goonda Act, suggesting it is being used as a tool for harassment. Justice Subhash Vidyarthi emphasised the law's power and the need for caution. The court quashed an order externing Zahid Ali from Gonda district, noting he had already been acquitted in one of the cases cited.

इलाहाबाद हाई कोर्ट ने उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार की गुंडा एक्ट के कथित दुरुपयोग की कड़ी आलोचना की है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि यह एक्ट उत्पीड़न के लिए इस्तेमाल हो रहा है। जस्टिस सुभाष विद्यार्थी ने कानून की ताकत और सावधानी की ज़रूरत पर ज़ोर दिया। कोर्ट ने गोंडा जिले से ज़ाहिद अली को बाहर निकालने का आदेश रद्द कर दिया, क्योंकि एक मामले में उन्हें बरी किया जा चुका था।
