Bengal's Durga Puja Sees Shift To Sanatani Traditions Under New Govt

West Bengal's Durga Puja celebrations have seen significant changes this year following the BJP's rise to power. Community pujas have increased to around 58,000 from 45,000. Unlike previous years, pandal inaugurations are now held after Mahalaya, and a grand cultural event with a drone show marked the occasion. The government is also planning a large Bijoya Sammilani. There's a strong emphasis on Sanatani traditions, with theme-based idols dropping significantly in favour of traditional forms adhering to scriptural rules. Even idol immersion practices have been modified to preserve sanctity.

पश्चिम बंगाल में भाजपा के सत्ता में आने के बाद इस साल दुर्गा पूजा उत्सवों में बड़े बदलाव देखे गए हैं। सामुदायिक पूजाओं की संख्या 45,000 से बढ़कर लगभग 58,000 हो गई है। पिछले सालों के विपरीत, पंडालों का उद्घाटन अब महालया के बाद हो रहा है, और इस मौके पर ड्रोन शो के साथ एक भव्य सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। सरकार एक बड़े विजयादशमी सम्मेलन की भी योजना बना रही है। सनातन परंपराओं पर ज़ोर दिया जा रहा है, जिसमें विषय-आधारित मूर्तियों में काफी कमी आई है और शास्त्र-सम्मत पारंपरिक रूपों को प्राथमिकता दी जा रही है। यहाँ तक कि पवित्रता बनाए रखने के लिए मूर्तियों के विसर्जन की प्रथाओं में भी बदलाव किए गए हैं।
