Bengal Durga Puja Pandal Tragedy: SIT Chief Cites Poor Lighting, Narrow Exits

The head of the SIT investigating the Durga Puja pandal stampede in West Bengal, retired Justice Anindita Roy Saraswati, inspected the site where 19 people died. She stated that dim lighting and narrow entry/exit paths contributed to the tragedy. The SIT will examine the roles of Kolkata Police and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, and investigate why an emergency exit was found closed during the incident. CCTV footage and police/fire brigade clearances will also be scrutinized as part of the ongoing inquiry.

पश्चिम बंगाल में दुर्गा पूजा पंडाल भगदड़ की जांच कर रही एसआईटी की प्रमुख, रिटायर्ड जस्टिस अनणिदिता रॉय सरस्वती ने उस जगह का मुआयना किया जहां 19 लोगों की मौत हुई थी। उन्होंने कहा कि कम रोशनी और आने-जाने के संकरे रास्ते इस त्रासदी की वजह बने। एसआईटी कोलकाता पुलिस और कोलकाता म्युनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन की भूमिका की जांच करेगी, और यह भी पता लगाएगी कि घटना के दौरान एक इमरजेंसी एग्जिट क्यों बंद पाया गया था। चल रही जांच के तहत सीसीटीवी फुटेज और पुलिस/फायर ब्रिगेड की मंजूरी की भी जांच की जाएगी।
