The Delhi High Court has denied bail to Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam in connection with the 2020 Delhi riots UAPA case. The court observed that there was a prima facie case against both individuals under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The Delhi Police had opposed their bail, labelling them as masterminds of the riots and arguing their risk profiles justified continued detention. Khalid and Imam had previously had their bail applications dismissed by the trial court multiple times.

दिल्ली हाई कोर्ट ने 2020 के दिल्ली दंगों के UAPA मामले में उमर खालिद और शरजील इमाम को जमानत देने से इनकार कर दिया है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि दोनों के खिलाफ गैरकानूनी गतिविधियां (रोकथाम) अधिनियम के तहत प्रथम दृष्टया मामला बनता है। दिल्ली पुलिस ने उनकी जमानत का विरोध किया था और कहा था कि वे दंगों के मास्टरमाइंड थे और उन्हें हिरासत में रखना जरूरी है। ट्रायल कोर्ट ने पहले भी कई बार खालिद और इमाम की जमानत याचिका खारिज कर दी थी।
