The Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta has initiated an investigation into alleged irregularities in civic purchases totaling nearly ₹1,134 crore. This probe follows a viral video of an IAS officer highlighting significant price discrepancies for the same products bought by different local bodies. The officer pointed out extreme variations, such as phenolic disinfectant costing ₹5 in one area and ₹33,500 in another. He warned officials that such practices, leading to excessive expenditure and potential corruption, would no longer be tolerated.

मध्य प्रदेश लोकायुक्त ने लगभग ₹1,134 करोड़ की नागरिक खरीद में कथित अनियमितताओं की जांच शुरू कर दी है। यह जांच एक IAS अधिकारी के वायरल वीडियो के बाद हुई है, जिसमें उन्होंने विभिन्न स्थानीय निकायों द्वारा खरीदे गए एक ही उत्पाद के लिए महत्वपूर्ण मूल्य अंतर को उजागर किया था। अधिकारी ने बताया कि एक जगह ₹5 में मिलने वाला फेनोलिक कीटाणुनाशक दूसरी जगह ₹33,500 में खरीदा गया। उन्होंने अधिकारियों को चेतावनी दी कि ऐसी प्रथाएं, जिनसे अत्यधिक खर्च और संभावित भ्रष्टाचार होता है, अब बर्दाश्त नहीं की जाएंगी।
