West Bengal Approves ₹5 Lakh Death Benefit For Anganwadi Workers' Families

The West Bengal government has announced a one-time financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for the families of anganwadi workers and helpers who die before the age of 65. This benefit will cover personnel employed in both government-run and ICDS projects across the state. The notification from the women and child development and social welfare department states that the benefit will be applied retrospectively from April 1, 2026. Family eligibility for this assistance will be determined by existing state government employee post-death assistance norms.

पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने 65 साल की उम्र से पहले मरने वाले आंगनवाड़ी कार्यकर्ताओं और सहायिकाओं के परिवारों के लिए एकमुश्त ₹5 लाख की वित्तीय सहायता की घोषणा की है। यह लाभ राज्य भर में सरकारी और ICDS परियोजनाओं में कार्यरत कर्मियों को कवर करेगा। महिला एवं बाल विकास और समाज कल्याण विभाग की अधिसूचना में कहा गया है कि यह लाभ 1 अप्रैल, 2026 से पूर्वव्यापी रूप से लागू होगा। इस सहायता के लिए परिवार की पात्रता मौजूदा राज्य सरकारी कर्मचारी मृत्यु उपरांत सहायता मानदंडों द्वारा निर्धारित की जाएगी।
