A long-running US study suggests women's heart health may decline significantly earlier than previously believed. Researchers observed that pulse pressure, a measure of arterial stiffness, began rising in women around ages 37-39, a decade before it did in men. This shift occurs much earlier than the onset of menopause, challenging the assumption that hormonal changes are the primary driver. The findings highlight the need for earlier cardiovascular risk factor monitoring in women.
