Meghalaya Hostel Becomes Foreigner Detention Centre

A Meghalaya school board hostel in Shillong has been designated as a temporary detention centre for foreign nationals awaiting deportation after completing prison sentences. The High Court of Meghalaya directed the state government to shift 30 such foreigners to the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) hostel by September 28. The facility is a G+2 structure with six dormitories and 60 beds, equipped with administrative staff, security, and medical personnel.

शिलांग में मेघालय स्कूल बोर्ड के हॉस्टल को विदेशी नागरिकों के लिए अस्थायी डिटेंशन सेंटर बनाया गया है। ये वे विदेशी हैं जिनकी जेल की सज़ा पूरी हो चुकी है और जिन्हें देश निकाला दिया जाना है। मेघालय हाई कोर्ट ने राज्य सरकार को आदेश दिया है कि 28 सितंबर तक 30 ऐसे विदेशियों को MBoSE हॉस्टल में शिफ्ट किया जाए। यह G+2 इमारत है जिसमें छह डॉरमेट्री और 60 बेड हैं, साथ ही स्टाफ, सुरक्षा और मेडिकल की भी व्यवस्था है।
