Pakistan's industries are facing a significant economic blow, with an estimated $40 billion loss incurred since trade with India was halted in 2019 following the Pulwama attack. Pakistani business representatives have urged the government to resume trade relations, citing increased import costs and pressure on domestic industries. They highlight that sourcing raw materials and industrial products from distant countries has escalated freight charges and delivery times. Resuming trade could reduce import costs in sectors like pharmaceuticals, textiles, agriculture, and petroleum, potentially saving billions annually.
