Eight private web security keys from Bengaluru-based eMudhra Ltd. have been leaked, prompting global security teams to patch systems. These keys were used by several government websites, including UIDAI and the income tax portal, to sign security certificates. An anonymous researcher alerted major internet infrastructure firms about a flaw where intermediate certificates used numerical keys between 1 and 256, instead of a 384-bit private key, making them easier to infer. One leaked key was reportedly just the number 4. eMudhra has since revoked the affected certificates.
