It also asked the government to consider regulating the practice where hospitals compel patients to buy medicines from their own pharmacies. The government stated that private hospitals also profit from these markups, and a solution will be sought.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने कैंसर दवाओं की सप्लाई कीमत और MRP के बीच भारी अंतर पर चिंता जताई है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि जो दवा रिटेलरों को 2,700 रुपये में मिलती है, वह 27,000 रुपये में बेची जा सकती है। कोर्ट ने मौजूदा मूल्य निर्धारण प्रणाली पर सवाल उठाए, जिससे मरीजों पर भारी वित्तीय बोझ पड़ता है। कोर्ट ने सरकार से यह भी कहा कि वह इस प्रथा को नियंत्रित करने पर विचार करे, जहां अस्पताल मरीजों को अपनी फार्मेसी से दवाएं खरीदने के लिए मजबूर करते हैं। सरकार ने कहा कि निजी अस्पताल भी इन मार्कअप से मुनाफा कमाते हैं, और इसका समाधान निकाला जाएगा।
