Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar defended a ₹8 milk price hike, stating it aims to support dairy farmers facing increased input and transportation costs. He mentioned that the decision was made after consulting stakeholders and noted a demand for a larger increase from legislators across parties. However, Leader of Opposition R. Ashok criticized the move, questioning if burdening citizens with higher prices and taxes is the Congress government's promise. He warned of protests, arguing the government is adding to the financial struggles of people already dealing with rising costs.
