Jain Community Moves Gujarat HC Over Shifting Of Ancient Idols From Gomtipur Derasar

Seven members of the Jain community have filed a petition in the Gujarat High Court challenging the relocation of ancient idols from the Gomtipur derasar to a new temple in Shilaj, Ahmedabad. The petitioners argue that the trust deed does not permit the shifting of these idols, some of which are reportedly between 400 and 2,200 years old. The court has been informed that some idols have already been installed at the new site.
