The Supreme Court has questioned the Election Commission regarding the deletion of voter names during SIR. The court noted that out of 47.5 lakh deleted names, approximately 43 lakh were marked as 'shifted' within Delhi. The bench sought precise data on how many of these individuals have died and how many have genuinely relocated. Petitioners' counsel highlighted that over 31 lakh were permanently transferred and 11.73 lakh were not found at their addresses.
