A Georgia appeals court has overturned a $7.5 million jury award to the estate of a man who died after walking out of a hospital emergency room. The man had been brought to the hospital by paramedics after showing signs of intoxication and confusion. Despite reporting symptoms like nausea and vomiting, he was not admitted for further treatment. He left the hospital barefoot and was fatally struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the road. The court ruled the family failed to prove medical negligence caused his death.
