Orphaned Elephant Calf Monitored By Vets After Failed Reunification Attempts

An orphaned elephant calf, separated from its mother in the Anthiyur forest division, is currently under the care of veterinarians at the Wildlife Transit and Treatment Centre near Coimbatore. Rescued in June, initial attempts to reunite the calf with other elephant herds were unsuccessful. It was then moved to the Pethikuttai centre in July, where it receives nutritional support and medical attention. Forest officials are closely monitoring its health and well-being. Another calf rescued in June was successfully relocated to the Kozhikamuthi elephant camp.

अंथीयूड़ जंगल डिवीज़न में अपनी माँ से बिछड़ा एक अनाथ हाथी का बच्चा फिलहाल कोयंबटूर के पास वाइल्डलाइफ ट्रांजिट एंड ट्रीटमेंट सेंटर में पशु चिकित्सकों की देखरेख में है। जून में बचाए जाने के बाद, बच्चे को दूसरे हाथियों के झुंड से मिलाने की शुरुआती कोशिशें नाकाम रहीं। इसके बाद उसे जुलाई में पेथिकुट्टई सेंटर ले जाया गया, जहाँ उसे पोषण संबंधी सहायता और चिकित्सा देखभाल मिल रही है। वन अधिकारी उसके स्वास्थ्य और कल्याण पर कड़ी नज़र रख रहे हैं। जून में बचाए गए एक अन्य बच्चे को कोझीकामूथी हाथी शिविर में सफलतापूर्वक स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया था।
