In 2010, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and his wife Lynne donated $100 million to the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) to fund a new children's hospital. Five years later, the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco opened on February 1, 2015, with 183 beds and a rooftop helipad. The facility was designed with family-centered care in mind, featuring spaces for parents and proximity to research facilities. The Benioffs later made a second $100 million commitment in 2014 to support both the San Francisco and Oakland hospitals.
