IIT Bombay Faculty Question Director Over Police Action Against Protesting Students

Around 20 IIT Bombay faculty members have written to the institute's director, questioning the decision to allow police onto campus to disperse a month-long student protest. The faculty cited allegations of police brutality and detention of students, including the deceased student's parents. They demanded a clear statement on the incident and accountability for the forceful removal of peaceful demonstrators. The faculty acknowledged differing views on the protest's necessity but agreed that the forceful dispersal was unacceptable.

लगभग 20 आईआईटी बॉम्बे के फैकल्टी सदस्यों ने संस्थान के डायरेक्टर को एक पत्र लिखा है। उन्होंने एक महीने से चल रहे छात्र विरोध प्रदर्शन को खत्म करने के लिए पुलिस को कैंपस में बुलाने के फैसले पर सवाल उठाए हैं। फैकल्टी ने पुलिस की बर्बरता और छात्रों को हिरासत में लेने के आरोपों का हवाला दिया, जिसमें मरे हुए छात्र के माता-पिता भी शामिल थे। उन्होंने घटना पर एक स्पष्ट बयान और शांतिपूर्ण प्रदर्शनकारियों को बलपूर्वक हटाने के लिए जवाबदेही की मांग की। फैकल्टी ने विरोध की आवश्यकता पर अलग-अलग विचारों को स्वीकार किया, लेकिन इस बात पर सहमति जताई कि बलपूर्वक तितर-बितर करना अस्वीकार्य था।
