19-Year-Old Gangrape Case Verdict: Two Convicted To Life Imprisonment

A special SC/ST court in Moradabad has sentenced two men, Shamsheer alias Jafar and Athikurrahman, to life imprisonment for a 2007 gangrape case. The incident involved the abduction and sexual assault of a 14-year-old Dalit student at gunpoint. The court also imposed a hefty fine of Rs 1.36 lakh on the convicts. This verdict comes after strong prosecution under Uttar Pradesh Police's 'Operation Conviction' and testimony from 12 key witnesses. The victim was lured, abducted, and taken to a secluded location where the assault occurred.

मुरादाबाद की एक विशेष SC/ST अदालत ने 2007 के एक गैंगरेप मामले में दो लोगों, शमशेर उर्फ़ जफ़र और अथिकुर्रहमान को उम्रकैद की सज़ा सुनाई है। इस घटना में बंदूक की नोक पर 14 साल की एक दलित छात्रा का अपहरण कर उसके साथ बलात्कार किया गया था। अदालत ने दोषियों पर 1.36 लाख रुपये का भारी जुर्माना भी लगाया है। यह फैसला उत्तर प्रदेश पुलिस के 'ऑपरेशन कनविक्शन' के तहत हुई मज़बूत पैरवी और 12 मुख्य गवाहों की गवाही के बाद आया है। पीड़िता को बहला-फुसलाकर, अपहरण कर एक सुनसान जगह ले जाया गया था जहाँ उसके साथ यह वारदात हुई।
