Italy Reopens Stromboli Island School For Single Student After 20 Years

Times of India · education

A primary school on the Italian island of Stromboli, closed for two decades due to a lack of students, has reopened for a single six-year-old girl named Aysha. The school in the isolated hamlet of Ginostra had been shut since 2006. Aysha's parents had warned they would be forced to leave the island and split their family if the school remained closed. Italian law typically requires at least 15 pupils to open a class, but an exception was made for this depopulation-risk area.
