Ulhasnagar Building Slab Collapse Displaces Over 100 Residents

A slab collapse from the fifth floor of the Shiv Ganga building in Ulhasnagar onto the fourth floor caused the third floor slab to crash down on Tuesday morning. While no one was injured, over 100 residents from 33 flats were displaced and the building was evacuated and sealed by the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation. Constructed in 1995, the building was not initially listed as dangerous, but a notice for a structural audit was issued following recent incidents.

उल्हासनगर की शिव गंगा बिल्डिंग में मंगलवार सुबह पांचवीं मंज़िल का स्लैब चौथी मंज़िल पर गिरने से तीसरी मंज़िल का स्लैब भी नीचे आ गिरा। गनीमत रही कि कोई घायल नहीं हुआ, लेकिन 33 फ्लैटों के 100 से ज़्यादा निवासियों को वहां से हटना पड़ा। उल्हासनगर नगर निगम ने बिल्डिंग को खाली कराकर सील कर दिया है। 1995 में बनी यह बिल्डिंग पहले ख़तरनाक घोषित नहीं थी, लेकिन हाल की घटनाओं के बाद स्ट्रक्चरल ऑडिट कराने का नोटिस दिया गया था।
