Karnataka CM Announces Funds For Mekedatu Project In Next Budget

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has announced that adequate funds will be allocated for the Mekedatu project in the upcoming budget. Preparations are underway for the project's ground-breaking ceremony, which involves constructing a balancing reservoir on the Cauvery river. A committee has been formed to arrange alternative land for the 5,000 hectares of Forest Department land that will be submerged. The Chief Minister also discussed desilting efforts for the KRS and Tungabhadra reservoirs to prevent water wastage, noting the current drought conditions.

कर्नाटक के मुख्यमंत्री डी. के. शिवकुमार ने ऐलान किया है कि आने वाले बजट में मेकेदातु प्रोजेक्ट के लिए पर्याप्त फंड दिया जाएगा। कावेरी नदी पर एक बैलेंसिंग जलाशय बनाने वाले इस प्रोजेक्ट के भूमि पूजन समारोह की तैयारियाँ चल रही हैं। वन विभाग की 5,000 हेक्टेयर जमीन जो डूब जाएगी, उसके लिए वैकल्पिक जमीन की व्यवस्था करने के लिए एक समिति बनाई गई है। मुख्यमंत्री ने पानी की बर्बादी रोकने के लिए केआरएस और तुंगभद्रा जलाशयों में गाद निकालने के प्रयासों पर भी चर्चा की, और मौजूदा सूखे की स्थिति का जिक्र किया।
