A global food crisis monitor has warned that conflict and drought are significantly increasing the risk of famine in Sudan's Darfur and Kordofan regions. An El Nino-induced drought is compounding the effects of ongoing conflict and displacement, leading to reduced food availability and higher prices. Healthcare and clean water are becoming scarce, leaving a malnourished population vulnerable to disease. Food insecurity and malnutrition are expected to intensify, with nearly 19.5 million people already facing high levels of acute food insecurity.
