गौहाटी हाईकोर्ट ने एक खड़े तेल टैंकर के खिलाफ भारत सरकार द्वारा दायर 62,100 रुपये के हर्जाने के दावे को खारिज कर दिया है। कोर्ट ने नेशनल हाईवे 37 पर हुई दुर्घटना में टैंकर की ओर से कोई लापरवाही नहीं पाई। एक एयर फ़ोर्स के वाहन की टैंकर से टक्कर हो गई थी, जिससे नुकसान और हताहत हुए थे। हाईकोर्ट ने निचली अदालत के फैसले को बरकरार रखा, यह कहते हुए कि एयर फ़ोर्स के वाहन के चालक के पास टक्कर से बचने का पर्याप्त अवसर था। इस फैसले से सड़क दुर्घटनाओं में चालक की जिम्मेदारी के महत्व पर जोर दिया गया है।
