Meta Now a Service Provider, Not Intermediary

Meta can no longer be classified as a simple intermediary but must be treated as a service provider, according to government sources. This shift acknowledges that Meta's algorithms actively amplify content and control its visibility on its platforms. As a service provider, Meta will bear increased responsibility for the content hosted on its services. The company has reportedly admitted to a mistake and committed to reporting child sexual abuse material to Indian law enforcement agencies.

मेटा अब सेवा प्रदाता, मध्यस्थ नहीं

सरकारी सूत्रों के मुताबिक, मेटा को अब सिर्फ एक इंटरमीडियरी नहीं, बल्कि एक सर्विस प्रोवाइडर माना जाएगा। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि मेटा के एल्गोरिदम कंटेंट को बढ़ाते हैं और उसकी विजिबिलिटी को कंट्रोल करते हैं। सर्विस प्रोवाइडर के तौर पर, मेटा को अपने प्लेटफॉर्म पर मौजूद कंटेंट के लिए ज़्यादा ज़िम्मेदारी उठानी होगी। कंपनी ने कथित तौर पर गलती मानी है और बाल यौन शोषण सामग्री की रिपोर्ट भारतीय एजेंसियों को करने का वादा किया है।
