AI Adoption Drives Data Centre Growth Beyond Traditional Indian Hubs

Business Standard · business

India's data centre sector is poised for significant growth driven by the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence, according to Equinix India MD Manoj Paul. AI is changing infrastructure needs, allowing data centres to be located in non-traditional hubs like Visakhapatnam and Jamnagar, provided they have stable power, land, and skilled resources. Equinix plans to expand its Indian capacity from 20 MW to 70 MW in the next two to three years. While power quality has improved, securing land in major cities remains a cost challenge, necessitating vertical construction.
