Palmer Luckey Warns US on Chinese Cars, Says Tariffs Alone Aren't Enough
Times of India · business
Ford CEO Jim Farley expressed caution about Chinese automakers entering the US market, citing Europe's experience. Anduril founder Palmer Luckey agrees with the warning, stating that Americans would buy cheaper Chinese cars if available, as US policy is currently protectionist. Luckey believes the US cannot compete on cost through tariffs alone and must reduce domestic manufacturing expenses, including energy and resource extraction costs. He noted that Chinese cars are significantly cheaper due to lower production expenses, making them attractive to consumers seeking value.
