Teen Swims 4km in Rough Seas to Save Family After Kayak Incident

Thirteen-year-old Austin Applebee swam approximately four kilometres through rough seas to raise the alarm after his family was swept away from shore in Western Australia. His mother made the difficult decision to send him for help as they drifted 14 kilometres from Quindalup. Austin swam for four hours, at times without his life jacket, to reach land and call emergency services.
