A US federal court in Boston has started hearing the case of Eric Nshimiye, a Rwandan-American accused of lying about his involvement in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Prosecutors allege the 55-year-old participated in the killing and rape of Tutsis, and later committed perjury in a 2019 trial. Nshimiye denies the charges, claiming he was in Kigali during the violence and left the country as a refugee. If convicted of perjury and obstruction of justice, his US citizenship could be revoked.
