Calicut Varsity to Form Separate Union for Scholars

The University of Calicut will establish a distinct students' union for its research scholars, replacing the department students' union on the main campus with a 'Campus Students' Union'. This reform, approved by the Syndicate, aims to streamline elections and enhance campus security. Proposals include separate unions for centres at Thrissur and Wayanad, CCTV installations, and faculty observers. The age limit for contestants will be 25 for normal students and 28 for research.

कालीकट यूनिवर्सिटी अपने रिसर्च स्कॉलर्स के लिए एक अलग छात्र संघ बनाएगी। अब मेन कैंपस में डिपार्टमेंट स्टूडेंट्स यूनियन की जगह 'कैंपस स्टूडेंट्स यूनियन' होगी। सिंडिकेट ने इस बदलाव को मंजूरी दे दी है। इसका मकसद चुनाव प्रक्रिया को आसान बनाना और कैंपस की सुरक्षा बढ़ाना है। थ्रिस्सूर और वायनाड के सेंटर्स के लिए भी अलग यूनियन बनाने का प्रस्ताव है। साथ ही, सीसीटीवी लगाने और फैकल्टी ऑब्जर्वर रखने की भी बात है।
