Chiang Mai International Airport has announced the cancellation of 108 flights and rescheduling of 80 others due to the annual Yi Peng and Loy Krathong festivals. The disruption is caused by the release of an estimated 200,000 sky lanterns, posing a significant aviation hazard. Temporary flight bans and schedule shifts are in effect from November 21 to November 28, with peak lantern releases on November 24 and 25. Authorities are enforcing strict regulations on lantern launches near the airport's safety zones to prevent accidents.
