An Indian-origin couple has been sentenced in the UK for defrauding businesses by falsely claiming to supply personal protective equipment (PPE) during the Covid-19 pandemic. Jogesh Bhandari was sentenced to eight years in prison, while his wife Meenakshi received a two-year suspended sentence. They exploited the urgent demand for PPE to fund a lavish lifestyle, purchasing luxury vehicles, watches, and holidays. Their company was involved in fraudulent transactions worth millions, including a deal for nitrile gloves that were never delivered.
