Chinese Developer Closes ARTEX AI Agent After South Korean Bank Hacks

The Chinese developer of the ARTEX AI agent has made the project closed-source following its identification as a tool used in recent cyberattacks against South Korean banks. The developer stated that ARTEX will no longer be updated or maintained publicly due to its misuse. ARTEX, an open-source AI agent designed for security testing, connects to external LLMs to find network vulnerabilities. Cybersecurity firms reported that the attacker used ARTEX and another AI tool to steal customer data from at least nine South Korean banks.
