Ahead of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's visit to Japan, Tokyo is planning an industrial value chain to connect India's northeast states with the Bay of Bengal region. This initiative will utilize the Matarbari deep-sea port in Bangladesh, which Japan is funding. A senior Japanese diplomatic source stated that the Matarbari port has the potential to transform Bangladesh into a regional industrial hub and enhance connectivity. Prime Minister Rahman is expected to seek Japanese financial support for projects including the Matarbari port and commercial hub during his visit.
