Jamshedpur Medical College to Replace Home Guards with Ex-Servicemen by Year-End

Times of India · health

Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital in Jamshedpur is set to enhance its security by replacing 120 home guards with ex-servicemen. This phased overhaul aims to establish a more trained, disciplined, and responsive security system to manage crowds and ensure safety. The move comes in response to recurring incidents on campus, including disputes after patient deaths and safety concerns. Ex-servicemen will be deployed for crowd control, surveillance, and emergency interventions, improving response times and coordination with police. The transition will be gradual to avoid disrupting daily hospital operations.
