The Hindu · india

The Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) is enhancing state-wide efforts to combat air and noise pollution, particularly focusing on Deepavali celebrations. District administrations and authorities have been directed to enforce environmental regulations and monitor pollution levels, with joint inspection teams to prevent the sale and use of banned firecrackers. Only CSIR-NEERI approved green crackers are permitted in areas with moderate air quality, while conventional crackers with banned chemicals are prohibited. The APPCB has also established specific noise limits for different zones and penalties for violations like unauthorized loudspeaker use.
