The Hindu · india

The Supreme Court has ruled that prior approval is not required to investigate alleged bribe demands by police personnel under the Prevention of Corruption Act. A Bench comprising Justices S.V.N. Bhatti and N.V. Anjaria stated that such demands are unconnected to the discharge of official duties, which are protected under the law. This observation was made while dismissing a Rajasthan police constable's appeal against a corruption charge.
